  • But do remember.... the adult bookstore provides an important role in the church. If not for viewing booths, where else would closeted gay ministers and church music directors get to express their sexuality? lololol
  • HA! Too much. I laugh at the organists with big families at the evangelical mega-churches. After all, such music could NEVER come from a gay person right?
  • I also reviewed a similar book, well a while ago now. It was Getting Off by Robert Jensen (http://freedompastor.blogspot.com/2007/12/tho-p...). As a long time pastor I've read oodles of "christian" books on sex and sexual addiction, but most of them really don't have much to offer in terms of critical reflection and hope. In fact I've seen them use shame as a tactic, which leaves me scratching my head in disbelief. Jensen is not a Christian and the book is quite frank, but it really makes a great case for reflecting on porn and sex addiction as a justice issue. That I found really helpful, takes it out of the 'me'-centric world that is contemporary Christianity.

Thanks for the review. I'll have to put this book on my to read list.
